The flange is machined to accept an o-ring for better sealing between the filler neck and the tank. The o-ring is the same one used on the oil filter adapter. The notch at the left front is necessary to clear a body brace. The tank's capacity is 80 liters or 21 gallons and weighs about 20 lbs. empty.
