I am (was) finding myself either looking for the next diesel pump or carrying drums of extra fuel with me on long trips. My solution was to build saddle tanks for my Hummer. The tanks are made from 1/8" aluminium sheet and have two baffles welded inside to provide extra strength and reduce sloshing. The filler neck uses the same old style filler cap (3" plug with tee handle). Click on the thumbnails to see an enlarged view.
